Leandro is the Executive Director and Founder of Reel Brazil. He is Brazilian born and a New Zealander by choice. Reel Brazil is the most rewarding project he has ever been involved with. When not running the festival he is either helping NZ businesses understand and do business with Brazil, working as a contractor in the project management/business analysis space, or practicing his samba steps.
Paula Barletto Andrade
Paula is Brazilian from Porto Alegre (South of Brazil). She has been in New Zealand since 2007 and considers herself a Kiwi from heart.She brings her experience in business strategies and event management to Reel Brazil since the second edition in 2010.
As the Festival Manager, she works closely with the Festival Director in all areas of planning, management and operations. She aims to bring a taste of Brazil to New Zealand and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Simon helps us connect with the student community, build partnerships, bring in sponsorship and worry with techy things like our Reel Brazil apps for Android and Mac. He spends most of his time running Highly Flammable, and his photography business with partner Sylvia Ho. He also keeps a deep interest for design, photography & the creative arts.
Sue is an entrepreneur and strategist and is the business mentor for the festival director. She is one of the founding members of Reel Brazil and an avid latin dancer, who loves the Brazilian approach to life. She enjoys how Reel Brazil mixes creativity, business and passion.
Tabata is our multi-talented Festival Coordinator in Auckland. She brings 5 years experience as a producer/researcher for some of the biggest TV shows in Brazil. She contributes to all aspects of the festivals including coordinating volunteers, thinking outside of the box, and doing outreach initiatives.
Cristiano has called NZ home since 2000. As our Special Events Manager he ensures we run a smooth Opening Night, Mini-Market and the Reel Brazil Festa in Auckland. Cristiano has worked in hospitality most of his life and has helped set-up and co-run his own hospitality business. Now, to further his knowledge in the business world, he is studying International Business at AUT while also working part-time at Westpac.
Nick or – better known as Santos - started out as a sponsor in our very first year. This clever little monkey fell in love with Reel Brazil and what we do, so we adopted him into the família. Nick is a networking extraordinaire and helps us connect the festival with the right people and businesses. He also owns and runs the Café & Juice Bar - Bernie’s on the Bay - on Oriental Parade, Wellington.
Flávia is the Brazil based Production Assistant, an IT Technician and a Lawyer. She helps Reel Brazil by receiving film submissions, assisting with film selection, creative ideas for festival branding and making sure all films arrive safely to New Zealand.
Fabrício is also one of our Brazil based team members. He is a photographer and visual artist, based in Rio de Janeiro. He organises and curates urban art expos and has collaborated with artists from several countries. He helps Reel Brazil by connecting us with the film distributors and with some final media formatting. He is looking forward to meeting Kiwi artists that visits Brazil.
